Itinerary

Day 1MARRAKECH - KASBAH AIT BEN HADOU – ZAGORA

Your 2-day Marrakech Desert tour to Zagora begins at 7:30 a.m. Our driver will pick you up from your hotel or riad, and then you’ll start your adventure. First, you’ll drive through Tizi Ntichka pass (2260m. alt), one of Morocco’s most unusual and picturesque passes. Then, you’ll discover the charm of Berber villages in Kasbah Ait Ben Hadou and enjoy a walk around the village, which used to be the production site of several Hollywood epics, such as Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia.

After lunch at your leisure in the village, the tour continues to the Berber village of Agdez in the Anti-Atlas Mountains next to the breathtaking stream of Draa Valley, where the largest date plantation in Morocco is located; explaining the sight of hundreds of thousands of date palm trees scattered around the valley.

After arriving in Zagora, you’ll be treated to an exhilarating camel ride across the brown desert terrains. Enjoy the view of the enormous orange sun going down over the edge of the barren world as your camel slowly takes you to your Sahara Desert camp. Once there, you’ll enjoy a well-deserved Moroccan dinner under the stars, complete with the chants of the locals.

Day 2ZAGORA - OUARZAZATE - MARRAKECH

After an early wake-up for a camel ride, sunrise watch over the horizon, and a Moroccan breakfast, start your day with a drive to Ouarzazate, where you can visit the Atlas Film Studios to gain a fascinating insight into the film world. The Moroccan city of Ouarzazate is known as the Hollywood of Africa. This is where many well-known films have been shot, such as Lawrence of Arabia, Babel, and The Living Daylights. The city has a long tradition in filmmaking dating back to 1932, when Morocco’s first feature film was made here.

Today, visitors can take a tour of the studios and see some of the sets which have been used in famous movies. One highlight is Ait Benhaddou, an 11th-century Berber castle that served as a backdrop for several Hollywood blockbusters, including Gladiator and Game Of Thrones.

After lunch at leisure at a local Cafe, continue back to Marrakech via the High Atlas Mountains. You will arrive in Marrakech late in the afternoon. Your 2-day Marrakech to Zagora desert tour will end with a drop-off at your hotel.
